In other news, Winamp is closing shop after 15 years. Some of you have no idea what Winamp is ( even if back in March they released a Mac version ), some of you forgot about it, and for some of you this post is just a reminder to delete/uninstall the damn thing… “Winamp, it really whips the llama’s ass!”. Well, my fellow Mac users fear no more. It’s not like anyone still uses Winamp these days, but if you hate iTunes and you’re looking for that perfect music player, you should really check out VOX. The app comes with full support for lossy and lossless formats, wrapped in minimalist design perfection.
VOX comes with support for ALAC, FLAC, AAC, MP3 and OGG files, internet radio support with more than 3000 station ( I still use Radium for that ) and AirPlay support.
VOX also understands numerous playlist formats and can save any of your custom playlists. Compile, open, save and enjoy your favorite playlists. It comes with drag-and-drop functionality ( like most things today ), which makes it super easy to add or clean a playlist.
The app also allows you to take advantage of any of the possible playback controls at hand. VOX accepts commands from keyboard media buttons, Apple Remote, headphones buttons, Dock icon menu and Vox Menubar icon.
Here comes the best part. VOX is FREE. Get it here…
