Today, Silicon Alley Insider posted a new chart, which ranks all four major smartphone providers according to how many apps they have available on their marketplaces. There was no doubt that Apple is crushing their competition in volume of apps available. Google’s Android is performing the best out of Apple’s competition. They managed to get 6x more apps in their marketplace in the last nine months ( Apple multiplied their offer by 3.5x in the last 9 months ).
To catch up, Android has to maintain the same growth rate for the next 18 months, but even so, it is highly unlikely that they will beat Apple ( especially since they started to accept iPad apps too ) .
As for RIM and Palm… are you still there?
