When Apple unveils a new iPhone, older models are used to fill-in the free and $99 on-contract price points. But today, Apple change its tactic with the announcement of the iPhone 5C. Basically Apple has discontinued the iPhone 5 today, and replaced it with the iPhone 5C which starts at $99. The iPhone 4 has been discontinued as well, but Apple will continue to sell the iPhone 4S for no upfront cost on a two-year contract, using it as its entry level iPhone.
