During its keynote at WWDC 2014 Apple discreetly announced, on one of the keynote slides, a new ‘City Tours” feature in iOS 8‘s Maps.app. The feature is not available in iOS 8 beta 2 but developer Pierre Blazquez managed to unlock the feature through a hidden debug screen.
The feature is pretty neat. To begin a ‘City Tour’, use maps in Hybrid view and find a city with a yellow label and tap on the city name to select ‘City Tour’. Currently, the betas only show a handful of supported cities: Rome, Stockholm, Barcelona, New York, Paris, Glasgow, Cape Town, Perth, Bordeaux and San Francisco. The feature has been also found in OS X 10.10 Yosemite‘s Maps.app and the functions the same as the iOS app. Check out a preview in the video below…
