Tonight i was bored of my iPhone lockscreen and i did a bit of tweaking. The result ended up on twitpic along side with Zeke’s lockscreen . Zeke has the official FSM logo, and i have a custom semi-official logo. Everybody said Zeke’s lockscreen rocks and asked me a ton of questions about my lockscreen. So i decided to create a tutorial on how to get the lockscreen look like that.
Basically there not much to say about Zeke’s lockscreen because it just the wallpaper. So let’s focus on my lockscreen, because im sure there are some elements there that you want.
First of all download the wallpapers:
- wallpaper 1
- wallpaper 2
Next thing, you will need some stuff from Cydia:
- Lockscreen Clock Hide
- MakeItMine
- Battery Control
- Status Notifier
- Weathericon
LockScreen Clock Hide
I really doubt i need to explain this to you. It hides the clock on your lockscreen.
MakeItMine
This is a useful little tweak that will let you change your carrier name to whatever you want and also you can change your clock display ( in the status bar ) to whatever you want. While some of you might go for that, i wanted to add the FSM logo as my carrier. That is a little bit tricky, but extremely easy to do. Back in the days, people could install an app called LogoMe form Cydia, and that was it. But LogoMe does not work anymore. Because of that, people didn’t know how to add a custom image as their carrier’s logo. And i didn’t find any tutorial on that. I was looking for a tutorial because i wanted to know the image size.I still don’t know the image size, i just did it over and over again, until it looked right to me. You can download the FSM logos here.
Now, via SSH go to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/ and look for your carrier. Notice that the two logos have the following names Default_CARRIER_Orange Ro and FSO_CARRIER_Orange Ro . All you need to do is to change Orange RO to whatever you carrier name is. Check your default carrier’s logos and you will know how to change the name of the custom files.
Battery Control
This app will allow you to change your battery to just a numeric value (e.g. 80) instead of the little symbol, the numerical value and the percentage sign. This is a commercial app.
Status Notifier
This app will allow you to have notifications in your status bar. For example you can set it to show a phone icon in your status bar when you have a missed call, an envelope when you have mail and a text bubble when you have a text. This is a commercial app.
Weathericon
By downloading ‘Weathericon’ from Cydia (for free) you can have the weather show up in the status bar as either:
- Just the temperature
- Just an icon (e.g. A picture of a sun if its sunny)
- Or both
Now that is pretty much it. Download, install and activate all of the apps above. You can see that my lockscreen is very clean. You can do all of that with all sorts of widgets and tweaks, but thats time and memory consuming. Instead, what i did was to download a lockscreen theme from Cydia called “Back to the future” (that’s heavy, doc) and i replaced the background. You can do that yourself, or you can just download the theme here, and via SSH copy it into /Library/Themes/. Activate it via Winterboard and you are good to go.
So glad you guys loved this on twitter and if you come up with even more tweaks for this lockscreen(s) please, feel free to let us know.
