The average Mac user ( probably ) doesn’t even care about macOS’ hidden files. Unless is the hidden “Library” folder.
When you need to toggle the visibility of hidden files, you can use something like OnyX which is convenient but it will disrupt your workflow. On the other hand having hidden files always showing will clutter-up your Finder.
Luckily there’s an easy way to toggle the visibility of hidden files, on the fly, with a keyboard shortcut.
In macOS Sierra, anytime you want to show the hidden files in Finder, all you have to do is press the following keyboard combo: Cmd+Shift+period.
Want to toggle off the visibility of hidden files? Hit the keyboard shortcut again.
It’s that easy.
