HowTo: Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0 Including iPhone 3Gs With redsn0w 0.8 [Windows]

Using this tutorial , you can jailbreak and unlock iPhone EDGE, iPhone 3G, iTouch 1G/2G and iPhone 3Gs on Windows with RedSn0w Redsn0w 0.8, .Before you proceed, you must have installed the original 3.0. To do this you simply open iTunes and click Update.

Download:  Redsn0w 0.8 windows

Download iPhone OS 3.0 FW:

• iPhone EDGE
• iPhone 3G
• iPhone 3Gs
• iTouch 1G
• iTouch 2G

Step 1

If you have not already, download the original firmware 3.0 on the desktop of your computer, and in the case you have an iPhone EDGE, you also  need to download the two Bootloader files: bl39.bin and bl46.bin

Step 2

Connect your device to your PC via USB

Step 3

Run the application and click on Browse

Step 4

This will open a window and you must select the original 3.0 firmware from your desktop. Following the program will recognize the firmware and then you can click on Next, and then start an automatic process that the kernel patcher.

Step 5

Now you must choose to install Cydia (and optionally also Icy). NOTE: If you have an EDGE iPhone will need to also select “Unlock Phone”.

Step 6

Click once on Next and make sure that your iPhone is plugged into the computer. You will see the instructions to put the device in Recovery Mode (in the case of an iPhone 3GS) or DFU. This is  how you do it:

To enter Recovery Mode you must:

• disconnect the device from the computer and turn it off
• press the Home button simultaneously and insert the USB cable into the device. Continue to hold the Home button until you see a pop-up in iTunes.

To enter DFU instead you must:

• disconnect the device from the computer and turn it off
• press home button, than home + power, than release power just hold home button

Step 7

Once you are in recovery mode will start another automated process that very quickly run the Jailbreak.

As you can see there are no changes compared to the previous version, but thanks to redsn0w 0.8, now we can jailbreak and unlock all iPhone (including the 3Gs). All users who have a SIM lock, can download Ultrasn0w  from Cydia, which will allow them  to instantly use any SIM in their phone.
