Apple had 3 major OS updates since 2007, and by know i guess you know the drill. Every time they have a major update , during the keynote , they invite a couple of major companies to demo their apps and games on the new OS. CNet just got an email from a “prominent app developer” which includes the following snippet:
Just wanted to give you a heads up that we’ve submitted an updated app for the new iPhone OS 4.0 software.
The email is very clear and these people have already been able to download the firmware 4.0 and the new SDK. This means that the release of the new version of the software is imminent. Apple could introduce first iPhone OS 4.0 beta at their January 27th event and then continuing with the beta open to all registered developers.
UPDATE: According to the developer, this press release was meant to refer to a 4.0 version of the app itself, not OS 4.0. Even so, I think it’s very likely the Apple tablet will arrive with an updated iPhone OS. We’ll find out in a few weeks. In the meantime, keep the OS 4.0 wish list discussion going [thx distortedloop]
