[REVIEW] Otterbox Defender: On The Go Protection

We love our iPhone regardless of which generation each of us currently own. The problem is though that some of us have physically demanding jobs or lives which can be dangerous for our beloved iDevice. Whether you work on a building site, or enjoy being suspended high above the ground on a rock face – the Otterbox Defender is definitely a case worth considering.

Otterbox have been putting out triple-protected cases for the iPhone for quite some time now. For Otterbox, the new iPhone 5 is no different and they are offering a beast in the Defender.

A tough polycarbonate inner chassis wrapped in a silicone sleeve for serious shock protection, with a screen cover keeping grime and dust at bay is still the consensus. Also protecting the iPhone 5 from dust and dirt are silicon covers over every port and switch.

The Defender isn’t waterproof though and the screen cover is pretty soft and pliable, so it isn’t the be all and end all tough case.

The screen cover is set a few millimeters from the actual screen and this means you have to press down quite heavily to perform any action when using the case.

All in all this is a very good protective case for those times when it is essential. It feels like I could drop this from 50ft
without incident. However, I wouldn’t recommend this for the average user due to the impracticality of the screen cover and the bulky design.
