Samsung Introducing New 64GB moviNAND Chip

The date is June 29, 2007 and we got the one thing we had no idea we want, but it made us go crazy. It is 2010, and now we have 3 iPhone models. First we had a 8GB model , then a 16 GB model, then a 32 GB, but what’s next? 64 GB, of course. Well, it turns out that today, Samsung has announced a 64GB moviNAND chip which could possibly be used in the next generation iPhone.

The 64GB moviNAND, which measures 1.4mm in height, consists of 16 30nm-class 32Gb MLC NAND chips and a controller. The 17-die stack was achieved by using 30-micron thick chips and advanced package technology. With the new 64GB solution, Samsung’s proprietary embedded memory, moviNAND, is now available in 64GB, 32GB, 16GB, 8GB and 4GB densities. For more info , you can check the official press release…

So will we see a new iPhone with 64 gigs of space? No doubt! Will Apple use Samsung’s new chip for the next gen iPhone? Not necessarily , because Toshiba announced their 64GB embedded NAND flash memory module. We will see in a few months…
