There were a lot of questions about the nature of SHAtter, the exploit that will be used in future jailbreking tools such as greenpois0n. As MuscleNerd explains it, SHAtter is yet another breed of exploit, bootrom-based but requires userland “assistance” for untethered boots.
We were afraid that greenpois0n will be released as a tethered jailbreak ( or semi-tethered ), because the exploit itself is tethered, but comex is here to save the day again. He came up with a way to untether it on iOS 4.1/3.2.2, so Sunday ( the day that greenpois0n will be released ) will be a fun day indeed.
That’s all for now, but we will keep you updated, stay tuned…
PS: A tethered jailbreak is quite inconvenient since, every time you restart the device, it will go back to its original state ! Cydia suddenly disappears and with it, all installed applications. The only way to re-take Cydia and third party applications is to re-run the jailbreak. You need to be careful and try to avoid restarting and/ore rebooting the device.
