Before you get too excited, you should know there is some good news and some bad news. We’ll start on a high note.
The Good News:
Siri, the only feature not included in iOS 5 for no iPhone 4S devices, was fully ported to the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch. You can see videos at the bottom.
It was done by Steve Troughton-Smith (@stroughtonsmith) and @chpwn. According to Steve in an interview with Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac, “…it seems to be 100% functional.” This is great news to hear, but it comes with a huge catch.
The Bad News:
Just to make it short and simple, this is illegal. I won’t go into details (mainly because right now I don’t know them myself) but this involves several things that no one can legally distribute. The first of which are files from an iPhone 4S and “a validation token from the iPhone 4S that has to be pulled live from a jailbroken iPhone 4S, and it’s about a 20-step process right now.” That is pretty sad news to hear and seems to be the only cutch in the way of getting this to current iPhone 4 owners. Steve says that he and @chpwn will be doing more testing to make sure it can be ported to other devices besides the two in the videos above…
That’s not all though, we aren’t going to end on a down note.
The ‘One More Thing’:
I don’t know if you noticed what he said, but let me repeat and yell at your eyes JAILBROKEN IPHONE 4S. Yup, so somewhere in the (hopefully near) future all of you 4S owners will be able to get your jailbreak on.
