TunnelBear: Access Location-Restricted Web Sites In The US and UK [ + US/UK VPN For iPhone/iPad ]

Not in the US and want to access site like Hulu or Turntable.fm? Or maybe you want to watch the last episode of Top Gear on BBC’s iPlayer but it’s restricted to UK-only?. Well here’s an easy, fun and semi-free ( more on that later ) app that will : TunnelBear.

UPDATE NOTE (04/17/2013) : Tunnelbear was updated with Canada and Germany VPNs

TunnelBear is a two-switch VPN service for Mac and Windows that will grant you access to geo-restricted content. As of right now, they only offer you the option to switch between an US or UK VPN, but that’s more than enough to get your hands, eyes and ears on content not available to you because apparently, you live in Narnia.

To get started, just go to TunnelBear’s website, download and install the software. When you load the app, it will ask you to sign-in if you already have an account, or create a new account.

TunnelBear offers two types of accounts:

Little TunnelBear – Free

  • A little TunnelBear gives you a hearty helping of 500MBs of free data each and every month. You can also get a bonus 1GB of free data by participating in our twitter promotion.
Giant TunnelBear – $4.99/mo
  • A Giant TunnelBear gives you unlimited data to experience the internet if you were living in another country. Also, if you opt for a Giant account, you will also get a free US and UK VPN for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Now that you have your account set up, it’s time to unleash the beast. Simply use the switch on the right side, to choose between US or UK, and then use the switch on the left side, to turn it on. Once it connects, you can start browsing your favorite content. That’s it. Can’t get easier than this.

Enjoy.
