Been missing that carrier logo on your Ultrasn0w unlocked iPhone? Well there’s a fix. The iPhone Dev-Team has updated Ultrasn0w to patch the pesky little bug that was keeping the carrier logo from showing up. Now you might think not having the carrier logo was just a cosmetic thing, but it could keep you from knowing when you switched to a “roaming” state and started racking up extra charges. There had been a couple of work arounds, but nothing this simple.
Seems like all they need was a little 10 line fix in the code(thanks to mobilesubstrate), to force CommCenter to send an older command, instead of the newer one. This fix should persist into the next firmware. After a brief beta period, testers reported back that all system were a go, and Musclenerd released the update to Cydia (the normal repo666.ultrasn0w.com). If you are already using Ultrasn0w, you will notice the update ( .92 as opposed to .91-1). Just update like you normally would, and if you have any issues with your 3G or edge connections afterward, you may need to manually clear, and re-enter your APN settings.
Ultrasn0w does not work with the newer 5.11.07 baseband. It is for those people that updated to 3.1.2 and preserved the older 4.25 baseband. If you updated through iTunes, you will need to use Blacksn0w.
