Upcoming Version Of TinyUmbrella Will Allow Us To Restore An iPhone/iPad Without iTunes

notcom, the dev of TinyUmbrella announced that he is working on an update that will allow us to restore our iOS devices without iTunes. You will still need your blobs saved, because the iOS needs to be signed, but you won’t need iTunes and an internet connection to perform a restore.

We’re not sure but, the upcoming update of TinyUmbrella might be using posixninja’s iDevicerecovery which is a tool capable of restoring IPSWs to devices without the help of iTunes. Also capable of doing other neat stuff such as upgrading stock firmware without flashing nor (to preserve jailbreaks) or baseband (to preserve unlocks).

I’ve been working on a new and improved version of TinyUmbrella that will, among other things, allow you to restore your iDevice without iTunes. With the holiday season and work, this will take me a bit to get working the way I want it. I appreciate your patience and your support. You guys are awesome 🙂 No ETAs yet but I’ll post updates here and on twitter.

We will keep you updated. Stay tuned…
