Word Lens iPhone App Translates Words Inside Of Images In Real-Time [video]

After two and a half years of development, Quest Visual has finally launched “Word Lens,” an iPhone app capable of translating signs in real-time. The app tries to find out what the letters are and then looks in the dictionary. Then it draws the words back on the screen in translation. The translation isn’t perfect, but it gets the point across.

The app is available for free, and it currently offers only English to Spanish and Spanish to English translation ( which you will have to buys for $4.99 each ). It uses Optical Character Recognition technology to execute something which might as well be magic. This is what the future, literally, looks like.
